USING PERFORMANCE TO THINK

Maine based Gretchen Berg collaborates with educators and students to integrate theater, dance, visual arts, and classroom curriculum in schools, museums and community arts centers. She has taught courses in performance art, playwriting, improvisation, and feminist theater at Bowdoin College and Bates College and graduate courses in integrating performing arts in classroom teaching at the Harvard Graduate School of Education and the University of Southern Maine. Gretchen received the Maine Alliance of Arts Education 2007 Bill Bonyun Award for her contribution to the arts in Maine schools.

She is one-third of Portland’s modern dance company Berg, Jones & Sarvis and is most interested in creating new works. Plus she writes poetry.
